The Cross, and Christ’s resurrection, is all part of God’s plan in His creation project. God has been building His Kingdom on earth since creation, and His plan through Jesus is to dwell in us to further His Kingdom work. Listed below are four points about God’s work that N.T. Wright (British New Testament scholar and author) discussed in his lecture “Why Does Jesus Resurrection Matter?”
- We may not understand God’s larger patterns as to where our actions fall.
- Love in action is beauty and justice.
- Art is love creating new worlds
- Justice is love rolling up its sleeves to heal the old one.
When the church is doing beauty and justice there is a whole new world with the risen Jesus in the middle of it.
To be a Christian is to be a little walking part of God’s creation project.
“God’s intention is to flood the whole creation with His joy, justice, love and wisdom.” (Wright) This has begun with Jesus’ resurrection, and He invites us to be a part of His work.
The Missions team encourages you to consider one of firstChristian’s CORE missions and in contemplative prayer ask God how you could be a “walking part” of one of these missions as God uses them (and you) for His Creation Project.
Ephesians 3:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
